Chicks I don't know about you but I am NOT ready for this!

One of the stores I drop into occasionally is stocking the shelves...... Ornaments, Santa's, Wreaths.

I am still weeding my flower beds and they are stocking Christmas. I know they have to stay ahead of the game but.....Do people really by this stuff now?

A real good friend of mine did e-mail me a link today to some really cute Christmas Cards soooooooooo maybe I do need to start thinking about.....I can't even say it..... I am sitting here typing in white pants and a tank top eating craving an ice cream sandwich and my mind won't go there.

So until I can go there I will be having visions of these....

and not of sugar plums.....or whatever!

All Good Things Must Come To An End....

Sis is gone...... the 2 week party has ended. We are all tired, broke, full of sweet memories & about 10 pounds heavier! That is no joke. Why is it that things taste so much better with good company?

I am not going to bore you with our entire meal itinerary but I will tell you about one night that was especially good. We wanted something relatively simple that would feed a lot of people & that we could cook on the grill since it was so hot so we had bratwurst. They were served on extra large buns with your choice of toppings like spicy mustard, dill relish, kraut, chopped onion, banana pepper rings, chopped bell peppers, & grated cheddar. The side dishes were potato casserole and baked beans. Summer is just not complete without eating a good ole grilled hot dog or bratwurst so we took care of that.

Even though Mr. Perfect didn't have a bratwurst he thought the whole evening was lots of fun! In fact he loves everything about Grammies house.....He told me so.

Now I do want you to know that we did more than just eat and plan our next meal....really we did! We exchanged survival beauty tips, decorating ideas, recipes, things God is teaching us & as always our plan to eat healthier and exercise.... I think that discussion was designed with me in mind.

Even though being with family takes effort and at times is a challenge it is well worth it......It reminds us that we are not alone in the world, that I am tied to people by blood and love. The interaction of several generations thrown together is comforting, hard, exhilarating & beautiful. After all is said and done it is worth the effort to make those relationships a priority.

My prayer is that we continue to support and encourage each other as we all change, grow and face life's challenges...... Celebrating the good times and there for each other in the hard times. Letting each other know there is always someone by their side.

Reconnect with someone in your extended family through a letter, e-mail, phone call or visit.....Put past things behind you. Cultivate those family ties while they are still possible. No matter how different you may be you can always find some point to connect....... The blessings those relationships can bring will be well worth the effort.

Fun with Sis

Chicks, it is just plain ole HOT in the South. I think it is going to be near 100 degrees today! BUT that is not stopping me from having tons of fun with my middle sis who is in town.

We are only 4 days into her 2 week visit & I have to tell you one of the best things we have done so far has been seeing the live musical NOAH.

If it is showing anywhere near your home town you must go see it.....It is amazing....I have seen numerous broadway shows and it rates right up there among the best. And of course the true account of Noah is incredible!

For everyone that is wondering..... Yes, Mr. Perfect has arrived happy as ever to be at Grammies house.

He is meeting his great Aunt Abbie for the first time and is getting lots of hugs and kisses when his mom is not looking.

These two are enjoying all the added excitement with company in town & are ready to go along at a moments notice.

They think the "dog days" of summer are really great!

I hope Target is ready for us today because we plan on hitting it with fervor.....My sister has this awesome root booster that she is using on her hair & I can't wait to get it myself.

It gives her hair so much volume and bounce. I am hoping it will do the same for me.....

She in turn will be shopping for the mascara I have been using....

Sharing beauty tips is just one more thing we have enjoyed doing.......along with drinking lots of coffee and eating our weight in The Dream Dish!

Sis is in Town

I think I have mentioned before that I am the oldest of three girls. My youngest sister and I live in the same town. The middle sis lives in the upper northeast and we live in the deep south.

Middle sis just arrived yesterday for her annual visit......We have been looking forward to this for months!

So for the next several days we will be chatting, eating, shopping, going on walks, having a visit from Mr. Perfect just to name a few things.

Since I am bossy in charge I have each day packed with actives that 40 something chicks like to enjoy. I also have the Dream Dish ready to make at a moments notice should we feel faint! Plus my middle sis is skinner than me looking a little thin and I thought it would fatten nourish her a bit.
Not that I mind being the heaviest rounder of the three or the oldest most mature...I just want to show her some good southern hospitality!

I'll check in often but I know ya'll will understand if I miss a day here in there.......

I am just trying to make the best of the last part of summer......I hope you are too!

Beach Bound

On our way to the beach guess whose house we had to stop at?

Yep, Mr. Perfect.

He was up waiting on Grammie and Pops and his two aunts and uncle.

We passed him around and gave him lots of kisses before my daughter put him to bed.

Pops and I are traveling in our car with our music....while my other two daughers and son in-law are in their car with their music. It makes for a very pleasant trip.

Lord willing, my next post will be at the beach!

Hitting the Road

After hearing about the wonderful time The Queen B
had on her beach vacation in Florida visiting beachy mimi I have been dying to go!

So the hubby and I are packing our bags and taking off.....My middle daughter and her hubby and our youngest daughter are joining us too.

It has been five years since we have taken a beach vacation. We used to take our three girls there all the time when they were younger but the hubby and I have chosen to see other parts of the country since they all flew the nest! But we are looking for a little R & R and I can't think of a better place than the beach.

Now I get to pack.... SO I am sure I will be visiting the local Target again and I thought while I was there gathering stuff for my trip it was a good time for............. a $25.00 GIVE A-WAY to TARGET!!!

Just leave a comment telling me what you couldn't go to the beach without & I will choose a random winner by 5:00pm Thursday evening and post the result on Friday morning.

Oh, don't bother saying sunscreen.....If I get one more brown spot I will look like a leopard! You can bet I am packing that!

R & R

Just a friendly reminder that "The Good Ole Summer Time" is a great time to have a little rest and relaxation.

We can be guilty of working too hard, even at our play......

Keeping a hard fast pace can really do a number on us over time.

God gives us gentle reminders all around us of the value in a little time out.

Even if it is just for a moment or two it can really recharge our batteries for these long summer days!

Summer Fun

When It comes to Friday I have pretty much switched to the fun mode!

I like to plan something fun if possible to do on the weekend.

It doesn't have to be anything big but I want it to be different than just any ole week day.

Usually by mid day on Friday I call and ask the hubby... "what do you want to do fun this weekend"?....

Then he response my saying...."I don't know what do you want to do"?.....

I reply by saying," I don't know but something fun"!

"OK, like what"? (That's him)

Hummmmmm........Well..............We could.........Then I can't think of anything........

Ever been there?

I know gas prices are out the roof so it makes thinking up fun things that don't cost a mint a little more challenging.

SO, Please help me compose a list of fun stuff to do. I want to hear what you are doing on weekends this summer.....

Let's put our heads together and come up with some Summer Fun!!!
