Chicks, don't you love it when your birthday stretches out for over a month? I was 1/2 of a hundred over a month ago and I am still getting birthday gifts. This package arrived yesterday.....

My oldest daughter and Mr. Perfect's mom is having her real live birthday today!
This is right after Mr. Perfect was born! She was so strong and courageous during a very difficult labor!

Today my baby chick turns 21! Now I officially have 3 adult children.
First I will get all the normal little sayings out of the way like...........It just seems like yesterday that I had you....I turned around twice and you were grown......Where has time gone?
Now for the things I really want you to know, Miss Emily...
You are a huge joy to your daddy and me! I love our little lunch dates and when you drop by for visits.
You care about what is going in others life and not just your own.
And I think you know you are the sitter of choice for you know who...
Mr. Perfect told me he loves his Auntie Em's too! You know just how to get him to sleep....even in Target!
You take time to be with your annoying younger cousins....
And your grandparents.....
You add joy to all our lives with your happy personality & caring ways!
I love you and pray you will have a wonderful day!

Dad, I know you said you didn't want to make your birthday any big deal, so I won't....BUT this is my blog and I can post whatever I want on it. Plus I haven't lived at home for over 30 years and you really don't call the shots anymore.....Now that we have that clear...... I want to list a few things that I love about you.
1. Hard Worker: You are still one of the hardest working men I know. That is rare these days and I am proud to have a father who worked hard even when he had plenty because it was the "right thing to do".
2. Tender Hearted: That is hard to find in men these days....so I hear. You have always given more than was necessary in money and in time. I will never forget the time close to Christmas that you stood out in the cold and gave the garbage men money for Christmas when they ran their routes.....and tipping $20.00 on a $15.00 dollar meal is NOT necessary but to you it was....I could go on but I know you don't want me to.
3. Fun: You taught us how to enjoy life.....Dancing, singing, seeing the world....well at least the southern part of the U.S.!
4. Level Headed: Dad you are just smart.....common sense smart.....the kind that is lacking today with all the "smarty pants" walking around with head knowledge and no common sense.
5. Family Man: Family is so important to you. You made us a priority over a hobbie or your own thing growing up. You still make it a priority. You were there right after Mr. Perfect was born.
These are just a few things I love about you Dad, and I know my sisters would agree with me......Being the oldest wisest they always agree with me.
I know you will have a wonderful day because I am taking you to dinner..... & about that generous thing....No, No, just kidding.......I will pick up the tab because you have taught me well!
I love you Dad, Happy Birthday!

There are a group of us chicks that get together and celebrate each others birthday. We usually gather at one of our homes and all bring something for lunch. Occasionally we will meet at a restaurant but we have decide that a home is more comfy and we can linger as long as we want which is usually an afternoon.....
We have a birthday celebration coming up this week and it happens to be my very best friend. We have known each other for 20 plus years & our husbands are best friends too. I know that is rare and I am very thankful for their friendship.
She and I have carried on a gift giving tradition for over 10 years. We have a friendship ball that we pass back and forth on birthdays, Christmas, and on one other holiday or occasion.
Inside the ball there is enough room to put a small gift.....
We have thought of all kinds of items to put in this tiny space...votives, lip gloss, scarfs, dip mix....to name a few things.
I give her the ball on her birthday which is late summer....she gives it to me at Christmas, I give it back at Easter or the beginning of spring & she gives it to me late spring on my birthday.
It is fun coming up with a unique item that will fit inside the ball.
This year I found a really cute headband to roll up and put inside the ball. (Don't worry she doesn't blog... yet)
Our little tradition has brought new meaning to the phrase....."Good things come in small packages"
That can even include friendship!
