Hidden in the deep recesses of our hearts we all have dreams....
Some are noble, some silly, some realistic others not so attainable.
A few of our dreams we out grow or we replace them for bigger and better ones. Then there are those that we hang on to.
The hubby has had a dream since he was 5 years old. I can't even remember when I was 5 years old....or 15.....or 35.....I will stop there!
His dream would seem silly to most people BUT this is his dream and he can make it what he wants...
When he was 5 he saw on TV that the astronauts all drove Corvette's......from that moment on he was hooked....NOT on becoming an astronaut BUT on getting a Corvette. Remember this is his dream..
He started collecting little mini Corvette cars.... When we got married he had tons! "Someday" he would say, "I am going to have one of those cars".
Well, the "someday" turned into years full with raising 3 girls, paying for non dream cars, college, weddings......still no dream car. Life would just not allow it. Oh he could have gone out and charged it or told us we would have to wait on some of our dreams but he is not that way.
The kids all knew his love for the Corvette and they bought him books about them and gave him cards with them on them. They would point them out when we would pass one.
I did not share this dream with him but I would tag along with him to a Corvette
show or two and let him really dream while I shopped. :) Remember this one....
Then he started doing a thing that is called saving. It is kinda foreign these days. He would "rat hole" extra money he got for different occasions and sold several items that we no longer needed and began putting the money aside. He built up quiet a little stash, still dreaming along the way.
Then low and behold a few weeks ago he came across that special one! A white 1969 model with a black top. AND he had the cash in hand with many of life's obligations down the road.
SOOOOOOOO he bought it!
Almost 45 years after the dream began.....
With lots of saving & hoping....
His dream came true!
Sweeeet!! Congratulations to him!

I just turned the computer screen and showed this to my husband (maybe not a good thing to do) and I could see the jealousy in is eyes!! He is also a corvette lover, from a young age!!! I am going to have to start watching our savings account!!!

What a happy man you have now!!! Look at that SMILE! YAY for his dream come true. I have a boss that is a corvette lover. He has a really old one (OK I have no clue what the year is cause I could care less...hehehe) and got a new one this year. He regularly trades them in and keeps a new one and he is 70 years old. Little boy dreams don't ever change!!

What a sweet person to put others first for so long - I'm so glad he finally got to have one for himself. :)

Congratulations!!! Just look at that smile, would ya?!
My dad had one of the 40th anniversary editions and later sold it. He has regretted selling it every single day since.

Please tell your husband for me that I totally "get" his dream and that I respect him so much for sacrificing along the way. If ever a person deserved this joy, it is you two, and I know that you rejoice with him, even though it wasn't your personal dream. Speaking of that ... what is YOUR personal dream??
